With the cool weather finally here, running (and racing) season is upon us in Florida! Preparing to race–and the training involved–often means that we at Orlando Sports Medicine see more running injuries at this time of year. That means more runners eager to get back on the road as quickly as possible. Last month I joined 3 other local physical therapists in downtown Orlando in speaking to other medical professionals on caring for and rehabilitating runners. Topics included differential diagnosis of common running injuries, as well as a review of the latest research on interventions and running form. Our community has many valuable and available resources for the injured runner, and it was great to be around physical therapists who are passionate about running and about how to effectively get our local runners back on the roads for racing season.
